Welcoming New Talent
Alico looks for ways to improve, whether it’s through trying new strategies with our operations or bringing in outside members to help us get there. Overall, we want to be the best that we can be, and we know we can’t do that alone.
Recently, we decided to bring on a new member who could help us become better, and would like to introduce Joby Sherrod, our Director of Agronomy. You may ask yourself, “What is an Agronomist?” The simplified answer- an agronomist is someone who has a large amount of knowledge in subjects pertaining to soil management and crop production. The easiest way to explain it is, an agronomist is a plant doctor!
Joby started off his education at Florida Southern College, earning a Bachelor of Science with a focus in Citrus. He would later go on to obtain his Master of Science degree in Applied Horticulture/Horticulture Operations. Joby has over 23 years working in the citrus industry, and has had the opportunity to work at many different levels in citrus production, from the bottom to the top.
As Alico starts to push further into its Sustainability/ESG initiative, Joby’s knowledge and practice will help us to become an even better citrus producer. We look forward to all that he will bring to our team. By adding more talent to our group, we will continue to flourish as a company.
